How about a nice board, where some of us can get away from the hostility?
what hostility and its a healthy exchange of views after all we cant all agree all of the time,that would lower us to the level of bush's yes men.
I think she means filtering of filthy language. Which you can't really get away from because this site isn't censored. Or has censorship, aka babysitters 24/7. It's like what 2 members wanted here: Lack of foul language or some kind of filter of explicit language. If the hostility bothers you so much why are you here? I sometimes have a problem with bad language, but I never complain about it. I have been on here for a few months now and I've never seen such a thing called hostility.

I'm just doing what the board says, putting my suggestions in, if you don't want to read my posts, feel free to skip over them. I'm just trying to get along as best as I can. There are just a lot of posts I would reply to but don't, because I don't want folks using foul language when they reply to my posts. I'm just doing what everyone else is doing, expressing my views, not getting on anyone's case. Freedom of speech applies to me as well, and I havethe right to express my views as much as any of you, so if you didn't like this post, or want to see it why did you read it? Have a good day.

actually no problem here. like I said if I had a problem with the zone or it's boards I wouldn't be here. If I had a problem with someone's post I wouldn't contribute.
I agree with both of you. WonderWoman in that it would be nice to have a Nice Board, where no bad language is allowed. However what BlindVI says it true, this site isn't a place where the boards are monitored and the users babysat, and foul language is sensored out. Anyone else have somethign to add? I think a Nice Board would be a great thing to have, if enough people want it...

yeah. And I think it'd be cool to have a nice board. but i also agree with blindvi and caitlin, this sight isn't a place where fowel language is unwelcome. sure, it is unwelcome acording to some users, but to others...
Actually the reason I posted this is because there are a few nice people on here, who respect each other, and bring some pleasantry to the sight. If there were none at all, I would've left and not come back. I guess I should've edited my sight settings, so I wouldn't receive sight updates, but some sort of curiosity wins, and I check it out to see what new boards are added. I keep hoping more people in the 40 plus age range will join, and we can have a board for some of us who are older, but it just hasn't happened yet.

It would be a nice idea. I'm just wondering how many people 40 and overare on here? There are too many profiles to go through to find out. But if there are enough people at least 40 if not over,it would be great! Thanks rdfreak.

mmm I thought there use to be a teen board but am not sure if it's still there. if not, I can create it but any ideas about the 40+ board wonderwoman? I wouldn't want to offend anybody yet I do think it's a good idea as even if there aren't that many on the site at this stage, I think conversations with people your age might be appealing, though of course we'd still love your contributions to the rest of the boards. :)
well, just thought a conversational board forthose of us in our 40's would be nice, the question is, how many zone users are in this age range? I think it would be good if we had any of the users who are 40 and up give their input, and give their ideas on this and find out how many of us 40 plus are out hereand see what they think.
and of course to be fair, I can understand why caitlin and some of the other kids might want a kids board also.

As for a kids board, there is the Cram Session, which is kind of a student's board, not a kids one. But it kind of is. Lol I don't know.

I agree with blindvi. Just deal with it. This issue has been brought up way too much and the same answers are written so just deal. I'm not trying to be rude, but as mentioned this site isn't sensored and they arn't your babysitters. It says that on the front page.

Well, I have no problem with a family/clean board, actually have thought of it. But there could be quite a bit of programming to go with it, i.e. profanity filter, maybe filtering out members that don't respect that board, etc. Until then, we couldn't guarantee that that board would get used for its intended purpose, and I don't want to strap down our community leaders and myself into constantly monitoring it.
But I do like the idea.
To clarify, this site is about freedom of speech. This doesn't imply that everyone has to use foul language, but we provide that vehicle for those who wish to use it, since many other sites for the blind and otherwise don't. We are here to accomidate, to the best of our ability, the widest amount of users possible. If a safe-haven board is requested and there's enough interest, we'll at least consider it.

well, I just thought, that since people can use strong language and talk however they wished on all the other boards, maybe they would just not go on a board that said, family board, or nice board. Those were just my thoughts.

troy, it is not your job to tell people to deal or not to deal. Like I said, if you are tired of posts on a topic, mine in particular, you are free to just skip over them without reading them. so there, deal with that.

well in fact, as i keep saying, I made a couple of posts about the strong language thingy and discovered they were worthless; there ere like 30 diferent users, but just like 4 of them could respectfully anser with my point. Well I think having a variety of speeches here is good since freedom of speech applies here. So, here ya go, one more interested.
Right. As I said, I'm all for doing it, as freedom of speech goes in all directions. Just can't guarantee it'll be totally clean, but we'll do what we can, within reason. Just don't wanna make a ton of work for the community leaders, etc. But there's some limitations we have, i.e. we have no way to limit someone from posting to a particular board, etc. without a major rewrite of the code. But since we did it in Ventrilo, it can be done here also, or on Graffiti, etc.

I think it would be great to have a clean board. i wouldn't mind if it had some slipups in it, where people mistreated the board. But just having the board, and having some sort of security filter thing that restrained most of the bad stuff would be good. Just a board that those who don't liek the swearing bit to go and post and not worry so much about swearing. I assume that those who want to swear would scorn the clean board anyway. I hope? Anyway, it's something I think would be widely acclaimed.
